Pygmy or Great Horned? Size matters.

SR20 or IP ban, effective immediately

I'm guessing pygmy, but she's a smaller cat. and It appeared to still have flight capabilities

I was too busy telling my dog to take it out of the house to take pics.

Wow. The biggest thing I have ever seen a cat catch was a crow.
I did once though come home to an eagle hunting my cat!

I'd keep it quiet if I were you. Depending on where you live, it could get you a sizable fine. It may also depend on the species.

Claws and teeth beat claws and beak (and wings). That's one badass kitty cat.

yeah, my other cat apparently has a thing for catching birds (crow sized) and terrorizing squirrels. Though she isn't as active as the one who caught the owl. (and hawks around here tend to stalk my cats)

ugh, now that I think about it, it looked more like a adolescent great horned owl than a pygmy. I didn't really get a good look at it then.

I have always wondered how birds lose against cats. One of these things can fly and one definitely cannot. I have never actually seen the kill, just the aftermath.
My last cat (now my ex's cat) was more a mouser. He likes to eat chipmunks and mice. I watched chomp down a mouse in three bites. I guess that's why he's Meowasaurus Rex.

yeah, I think the owl was dazed and couldn't get away. Also, we tend to call our cats nicknames, the owl catcher is usually referred to as "snow leopard" due to her mainly white coat and tendency to kill every woodland creature she finds.

Heh. They really can be ferocious little predators.

A cat that can catch owls is pretty impressive. The fact that an owl got caught is kinda sad. Owls are my favorite birds next to Ospreys. They eat mice, are smart, sound cool in the night.
